A HUGE thank you to everyone at Saturday’s Ocotillo Hills Block Watch meeting for donating needed items for Sunnyslope! These donations (over 300 lbs!) went to the Desert Mission Food Bank at 9229 N 4th St.
March (1st Saturday) Ocotillo Hills Block Watch Street Party
Our Annual street event takes place on the first Saturday in March. It is a great opportunity to come out and socialize with your neighbors. By engaging with your neighbors, you get to have fun while make our neighborhood a safer place to live. There are plenty of activities for adults and children; Face Painter, Balloon Artist, Juggler, music, free food grilled up by your neighbors, and our residents own vintage car show. We have booths from the local Desert Horizon Phoenix Police, Neighborhood Services, Phoenix Fire Department, Phoenix Park Rangers, and Community Bridges Inc. about crime and saftey. There are plenty of vendors from local artitst, to local coffee shop, and the local ice cream truck that drives through the neighborhood. It is a great opportunity to meet your local government officials as well. It is a fun day for everyone!
October (3rd Saturday) Ocotillo Hills Block Watch G.A.I.N. Event
G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods). Another annual fun event with a dozen Sunnyslope Block Watches and Organizations. We grill up hamburgers, hot dogs (veggie and regular), and chips. There is a bouncy house, obstacle course, and games. This is a great opportunity to meet your locally elected officials, and our local Desert Horizon Precinct police officers!
December (2nd Saturday), Annual Sunnyslope Holiday Market & Parade
Ocotillo Hills Residents come together to design and build a float for the The Slope Holiday Market + Parade. The parade travels down Hatcher Rd from 7th Ave to Central Ave. In addition, one of our residents brings their VW bus which is entered every year in the APS Electric Light Parade. Every year the event has grown as more Sunnyslope residents with their children, more vendors, and more floats. Even the Desert Horizon Precinct Police Department have a float. There is food, music, vendors, North Mountain Brewing and OHSO Brewery, a petting zoo, Santa Clause and a Crystal Princess.
